Sebastian Vettel dominates in FP3 of 2012 Singapore Grand Prix ? Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has topped the timesheets again in the third free practice session of 2012 Singapore Grand Prix at Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Vettel, after dominating in the first two practice sessions on Friday, has once again set the best time of 1 minute and 47.947 seconds in FP3. The veteran German driver was followed by Lewis Hamilton of McLaren who set the second fastest time of 1 minute and 48.272 seconds.
The 2008 world champion stayed ahead of Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who seemed quite comfortable behind the wheel of F2012 and successfully collected some essential information about the update package which will certainly help in making further advancement.
The Spaniard was followed by Nico Hulkenberg of Force India who impressed everyone with his pace. Furthermore, Hulkenberg remained ahead of Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus who showed a tremendous improvement in his pace as compared to the first two practice sessions in which he struggled with the lack of downforce.
The Finnish driver stayed ahead of Alonso?s teammate, Felipe Massa who was further followed by Paul di Resta of Force India.
Besides, Nico Rosberg of Mercedes set the 8th quickest time and remained ahead of Bruno Senna of Williams. Additionally, Rosberg?s teammate and compatriot, Michael Schumacher came 10th in the timesheets and felt comfortable with the new exhaust layout of W03.
The seven-time world champion was followed by Mark Webber of Red Bull who could only set 11th fastest time. In addition, the Australian driver smashed his rear wheel into the wall during the final practice session which caused damage to his car.
The Australian driver stood ahead of Jenson Button of McLaren who was further followed by Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso.
Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi came 14th in the charts and remained ahead of Romain Grosjean of Lotus who struggled with the limited downforce.
The Frenchman stayed ahead of Pastor Maldonado of Williams who stood ahead of Jean-Eric Vergne of Toro Rosso.
Kobayashi?s teammate, Sergio Perez came 18th in the charts and was followed by Charles Pic of Marussia who remained ahead of Caterham pair of drivers, Vitaly Petrov and Heikki Kovalainen. It is to be noted that Petrov caused a red flag as he damaged his right rear suspension at turn 21 and eventually stopped at the pit lane entrance.
Above and beyond, it will be thrilling to see how all the contender show up in the qualifying of the Singapore GP.
